sailing and diving around the world
Had this short little vid that I had forgotten about, so decided to upload it anyway. I wasn't in Portsmouth very long, so I didn't have time to visit any of the famous sights, like the Mary Rose, or the HMS Victory, Nelson't flagship, which he was on when he led the British fleet during the Battle Of Trafalgar, in 1805. Portsmouth is considered to be the 'home of the navy,' so I decided to stop in for a few hours, before continuing on with my road trip.
Night crawling when I'm travelling is really fun for me, especially if it's a city that I've never visited before, as is the case with Lisbon. It was a truly amazing place. The rise up, from sea level, is quite drastic in Lisbon, so everywhere you look there are colossal staircases for you to climb. If you want to get some exercise or 'get in shape,' this is the city to do it. As I was exploring, I ran into Monty, a young man who is originally from Iraq, but now an Austrian citizen, and he happens to be a night crawler, too, so we teamed up and explored Lisbon, together. Quite a nice guy and I was happy for the company. Travelling on my own, as I always do, makes it a bit lonely sometimes, especially at night, when everyone in the city are in their homes with their families, cozy in their beds. In fact, as a single guy, I find that I'm usually too busy and on the go to think about the fact that I'm a bachelor, but during my night crawls, it sometimes affects me a little bit. It would be nice to have someone to share these adventures with. But, alas, most people have 9 to 5 jobs, and don't have time to bomb around the universe the way I do.
Unfortunately, a big part of the videos and pics that I lost were from this visit to Lisbon, so all I have are the night shots. The photos and vids really speak for themselves, though, so I won't say much more. The lighting is dime in the vids and photos, not because of low quality gear. That is really what it was like there. It was hot, humid, with a steady wind that made it a perfect night, in my mind. It was just a leisurely, unhurried, albeit arduous, with some of those stairs, stroll through Lisbon, at night. Next time I'm in the area, I would definitely make Lisbon one of my stops.
