sailing and diving around the world
Things are really moving along, guys. We'll be DMs in about a week. Today was Jochem's Rescue Diver Scenario Day. When you get to RD, you'll be training for a few days, and part of the training is doing mock rescues dealing with unresponsive divers at the surface and the bottom, panicked divers at the surface and the bottom, missing divers, etc. It makes you a little tired by the end of the day, but it is definitely a life-changing part of the way towards Divemaster. I absolutely loved the Rescue Diver course. So, Jochem was guided by Luca, and Luca had Blake and myself to assist. Blake and I played the parts of the panicked and unresponsive diver. We also hassled Jochem a bit, when we were swimming underwater by pretending to not know what we were doing :):) Jochem passed both the practical and the written exam, so he is now a Resuce Diver, and ready to move into the DM program, early January.
In the second video, you can see Luca giving Jochem some last-minute instruction. It's always fun working with Luca, and he also happens to be a favorite instructor, for all of us. Very cool guy. The last video is of Blake and Zak doing some fire breathing at the Christmas party we had at one of the DM houses. Zak is the one in the baseball cap and he's getting pretty good.
Meghan, the senior instructor prepared a fabulous dinner for us. She came through on two of our requests, mine, for her fabulous lasagna, and Zak's for honey baked ham. There was also some delicious sweet potato and cake. Thank you, Meghan. Thanks go out to Meghan's Mum, too, Barbara, who was working away in the kitchne to make it all happen. Fantastic mother-daugher team. I added a bunch of pics, some of which show Meghan taking us through the knowledge reviews for chapter 9 of the DM manual, in preparation for the final exam. It's almost over!! Wooohooo!!! :):):)
