sailing and diving around the world
I met an American 'ex-pat,' Dave, the other night in a restaurant, and we chatted for a bit and exchanged contact info. Dave very kindly invited me to brunch, at one of the small, and very charming, hotels that is near the DM house. After a fabulous brunch, he offered to drive me around the island for a bit. I took some vids and pics.
We stopped for a moment at Dave's house, to pick up a helmet for me, and he showed me the place, and I got to see all of the turtles that live on his property. Dave feeds them vegetables, but their favorite foods are really chicken and cheese :):) There is also a big ole' iguanana that hangs around but he was nowhere to be found.
There is one road that cuts through the island, running east to west, from coast to coast, and that is Jaurez. Juarez, where it ends on the east coast, turns right, heading south, and that road takes you all the way around the island, back to the ferry pier, and beyond. So, once we reached the east coast, the first stop was Mezcalito's, for a beer and a margarita. Then we headed for Coconuts, and, yes, I did take a look at the 'albums' for just a sec, to confirm that there are indeed pictures of past female customers who have bared their breasts, or 'flashed,' for a photo. There were several albums. Crazy kids :):)
Next stop was Skyreef, where one of the best salsa bands on the island was playing. So, a couple more beers, some great food, and we sat and listened to the fantastic music and watched the dancers do their thing. I was really in the mood for some dancing, but I have two left feet when it comes to salsa dancing. Need to take some lessons soon! :):)
