sailing and diving around the world
Hey all. Arrived in the BVIs. Great flights. Transferred planes in St. Maarten, where I had a few hours to kill, and then flew to Tortola, landing around 9:30pm. By the time I cleared customs I had a little time to get over to the ferry dock, to catch a ride ($20, one-way), to Virgin Gorda, and make my way over to Yacht Harbor Marina. Didn't see the very best of Virgin Gorda, unfortunately, because I arrived at night, and it was rainy the next day. I ended up walking to the ferry dock, which is close to the Airport on Tortola. It wasn't a 'formal-looking' ferry,' rather, it was more like a private vessel. You leave your bag/s with a gentleman who works on the 'ferry,' and you board, and take your seat. Looks like it can seat about 22 people, or so, Once underway, another gentleman comes by and collects the $20, one-way fee, or $30, return. The ferry dock, on Virgin Gorda, is walking distance to Yacht Harbor Marina.
I have a couple of videos to post, but won't be able to do it til I get to a decent wifi souce. I'm sitting in Genaker Cafe, but they don't have a very strong signal. I might be able to upload 1, but it'll take about 2 hours. It's definitely a commitment when you create and try to maintain a blog :)
