sailing and diving around the world
Well, here you it guys, another personal inspiration. I was taught, since I was very little, that good manners and gentlemanly behavior must come first. I've always tried to live my life that way, conscious of the fact that everything we do affects other people. I pride myself on my ability to walk into a room and spread positive energy and good will. Well, here's John. This guy humbled me, with his kindness, sincerity, authenticity, professionalism, and gentlemanly behavior. He is a reminder to me why we soldier on to spread the love, even after 'life' had given us a good going over.
John is the manager at Sam's Waterfront Cafe, and he was born to it. This guy is on the move, non-stop, every time I've visited the restaurant and the bar. He is a host, personified. One situation in particular that comes to mind is the night my steak came out almost well-done, after I had ordered it medium-rare. Believe me, I'm not a complainer, but heck, this is the one thing that I always hope will get to the table the way I like it. Well, that night, I expressed a little disappointment, and the waiter, AJ, left to let John know what happened. Don't get me wrong. The food is always fabulous, it's just that they were a little busy that night and they overcooked my medium-rare steak. I probably should have kept my mouth shut and just eaten it. Anyway, it wasn't more than 30 seconds when John showed up. He's the kind of kind of host that pulls a chair up to yours and talks to you about how he can make the situation better. You can see that he is genuinely determined to not let you walk away feeling the slightest bit disappointed. That is one of the many examples of how John takes things to a different level.
My hats off to John, perhaps the nicest human being I've ever met in my life. It's written all over his face, as you can see. Thanks for the reminder, John, and it is my honor to know you.
