sailing and diving around the world
I fell in love with this place right away, not because they have wifi, but because it was clearly a family affair, providing that 'I'm at home,' kind of feeling. The fact that they have a consistently strong wifi signal is great, too. Every time I'm in Chagauramas, despite the fact that there are a few other cafes and restaurants, I always go to Cafe Feel Oh. They definitely are set up in such a way as to show that they know who their customers are. They know we yachties are either in the anchorage, or on the hard in one of the boatyards, and they know we're bringing our laptops, and other devices, with us. They've got a whole shelf, along the west side of the cafe, to rest your laptops, with a receptacle underneath, about every 3 or 4 feet, or so. There are at least two tables that are close enough to the receptacles, and, typically, two or three people will share one table, running their power chords to the wall. What I do is, rather than taking up two receptacle outlets, one for my laptop and one for my phone, I simply charge my phone off my laptop, leaving one receptacle free for someone else to use.
Cafe Feel Oh has a fantastic menu. The chefs create delicious food. I particularly love the lunch specials they come up with. Just yesterday, I had the chicken curry, with Bhagi (insanely delicious), and roti. I just now finished the stewed lamb, also with roti. Outta' site.
Patsy Powell, a delightfully friendly lady, and extremely accommodating, manages the cafe, for her brother. Her two, very cool nephews, Ajalah and Kareem, are usually here as well, Kareem usually in the evenings. You like to talk football, he's the man. Between the three of them, Patsy, Kareem, and Ajalah, and the rest of the staff, Nadiya, Kernesha, Priscilla, and Denise, they create a very warm atmosphere. I really look forward to visiting every day. Stacey, who was working at Cafe Feel Oh, for most of my stay here, has taken on a position at a new sushi restaurant. I wouldn't be surprised if she's speaking Japanese when I return next year.
The menu has a really good variety, plus they have an all-day breakfast, which is a particular favorite with yachties. You can have pancakes or French toast at 9pm, if you like. They have a good selection of beers, and, I just found out today, they also do mixed drinks. That's Ajalah's specialty, apparently. So, he's the man to talk to if you want a pina colada or a margarita.
It's also pretty cool to see that Patsy brings in promotional stuff, once in a while. The folks from Dewars were in a couple of weeks ago, samples and all, the guys from Heineken were in today, and Chivas Regal will be represented pretty soon.
You can sit inside with the air conditioning, or you can sit outside, which is where I usually am. I love the heat.
Oh yeah, there is an ATM, about twenty feet away.
Thanks to all at Cafe Feel Oh :)
